Vegetables like bottle gourd, cucumber, pumpkin and melon though healthy but can be dangerous to health if the bitter parts are not removed before eating as they contain harmful toxins called tetracyclic triterpenoid cucurbitacins compounds which can be poisonous if they taste unusually bitter. Hence the best way to test is to taste the bottle gourd before making the juice.
