Keep Yourself Hydrated in This Summer

Our body needs to be hydrated all the times but this is especially very important in summers to be hydrated as hot sun is there and temperature is rising day by day. The effects of dehydration can be quite problematic. Symptoms can be dry mouth, fatigue and nausea. But one can easily prevent them by taking these useful foods as they help to prevent dehydration and gives instant energy to the body. So take these foods and be cool and refreshing this summer:



Watermelon: Watermelon is the first cooling fruit which comes in the mind when we think of summer’s heat. This fruit is loaded with water as the name suggests and it also has a proper concentration of electrolytes which balances the loss of fluids in the body. It contains very less calories so the people who are on weight loss can also enjoy it.



Coconut Water: Coconut water is another option you can go for which will help you to keep hydrated and refreshing .It is free of added sugars and preservatives with a perfect balance of electrolytes. Coconut water contains lauric acid which our body converts to monolaurin and it helps to fight infections and is very good for liver and digestive health.



Cucumber: Cucumbers also contain a very good amount of water in it. Besides this cucumbers have caffeic acid and vitamin C which helps to soothe skin irritations. This is the reason we feel satisfied in a hot sunny day after eating a slice of cucumber.



Green Salads: Green salads are a mix of lettuce, spinach, cucumber and legumes with some dressings in it. They can be a refreshing delight to you as greens also contains  dense amount of water in it  and are very low in calories. They also make you feel full for the longer times.



Buttermilk: Buttermilk or lassi can also be very beneficial drink in hot summers. Salted lassi prevents the dehydration and also helps in the digestion of food.



Zucchini: Zucchini is also very beneficial vegetable for avoiding dehydration as it contains approximately 95% of water. It also has fiber, potassium, folate and vitamins A and C which helps to combat bad effects of heat.



Pineapple: Pineapples are juicy fruits which help to prevent dehydration. They help the body to remove the toxins and it also contains a compound called bromelain which helps to reduce inflammations.



Grilled vegetables:  Take grilled seasonal vegetables after coming back from a hot sunny day. They will soothe you and will give you a refreshing energy. Vegetables are also rich in antioxidants so helps to remove toxins from the body and prevents inflammations.



Spring Onions: Add spring onions in your salad as they also help to keep you cool.



Water: Don’t forget our natural water as this is a very important tool to avoid dehydration. Drink about 10-12 glasses of water every day and if you are going out then please carry a water bottle with yourself.



Precautions:


Avoid the use of too much spicy and fried food.


Avoid cigarette smoking and alcohol as they may also lead to dehydration.


Avoid excess coffee and tea.
