The stones in the gall bladder are called as the gall stones and they usually form when there is hardening of the bile. Bile is stored in the gall bladder and is used for the digestion of the fat.  Cholesterol which is the component of the bile can collide and can give rise to the gallstones. Certain factors like being overweight, age, heredity, hormone replacement therapy, high cholesterol, diabetes or Chron’s disease can be the cause of gallstones. Following are some of the factors which can reduce the risk of gallstones:

Lose weight if you are overweight as being overweight can be the reason behind gallstones. But the weight loss should not be rapid and quick.  Losing half a kilo of weight per week is healthy and it should not be beyond that. According to some researches crash dieting can also be the cause of gallstones.

Take a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid skipping the meals. Take lots of whole grains and fiber in the diet. Limit the amount of animal fats which are high in cholesterol.
