Foods for Hemoglobin


Fruits and Foods are the storehouses of the vitamins and minerals. They provide us nutrients which can improve our health and longevity. Low hemoglobin content or the anaemia are the very common problems these days and are majorly occurring due to the unhealthy food choices. Following are some of fruits and foods which can be really helpful to prevent the problem of low haemoglobin levels.

Dates: Dates are an excellent source of iron so helpful for the persons with the condition of iron deficiency anaemia. Dates are easily available in the market and they are delicious in taste. Although dried dates are the better sources of the iron than the fresh dates. Along with iron dates are also rich in calcium, sulphur, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper and magnesium. They are free from cholesterol, contains very less fat, rich in B complex vitamins and fiber.

Pomegranate:  Pomegranate is the natural pharmacy in one fruit as it contains so much of nutrients in it. It is also a good source of iron so good for anaemic and pregnant women. Research shows that pomegranate juice when taken by pregnant women can help their babies to resist brain injuries which occur due to low oxygen and reduced blood flow associated with premature birth.

Berries: All berries that is blackberries, blueberries, cranberries and strawberries are rich in iron content. So you can add them in regular diets to avoid the problem of low hemoglobin levels. Along with iron berries are also strong antioxidants and thus avoid the occurrence of diseases. They are even beneficial for the prevention of cancers.

Watermelon: This cool summer fruit is also a rich source of iron. Iron is a nutritive mineral which boosts energy in our bodies and makes us active and provides stamina. Along with iron watermelon is also rich in various other nutrients like B complex vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin and niacin), Vitamin C and minerals like calcium, phosphorus.

Cheeku: Cheeku or sapota is also the rich source of the iron. They are also rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C and fiber. This sweet fruit also satisfies the sweet tooth along with being nutritious and healthy. This fruit is also high in energy and easily digestible so one can take it anytime to get a fresh load of energy and nutrients.

Prunes: Prunes are also a known fruit which is high in iron content. They are also rich in dietary fiber, potassium, calcium and vitamin A. They are also important for the maintenance of the blood sugar levels and also help to avoid the problem of constipation.

Apricots: The high iron content in the apricots is very good to increase the hemoglobin production in the body. Along with iron apricots also contain essential amount of copper which makes the iron available to the body. This is an ideal fruit for the women after their menstrual cycle especially for those with the heavy flow.

Along with these fruits some vegetables like dark green leafy vegetables, beetroot and tomatoes are also the good source of iron. Some nutrients like vitamin C, copper and folic acid are also required for the better absorption of iron in the body. Fruits are also rich in these nutrients so make the iron easily available to the body. So eat healthy and be healthy.
